Newr's Vision: Chef

Table of contents

Food Meets Fun

Cooking can be artistry with food for some and a nightmare for others. Did you remember to add the salt? Is the water boiling? How long for the noodles to cook? Is the meat cooked enough? Did I leave the stove on? Do I have enough propane? These, and several more, are questions that run through our minds when trying to prepare a meal. At Newr, we want to eliminate these questions and put your mind at ease when you’re making your favorite dish or trying something new. Our vision is to enable our users with the ability to cook without limitations commonly associated with location, electricity, propane tanks, time, space, weight, and knowledge— cook freely! In this blog post we will explain how it works.

Cooking requires skill and training which take practice and time to master. For some, it's their their passion; for others, it's an overwhelming task to take on every few hours every day. Newr is developing Chef, a battery powered smart induction burner with smart phone integration to alleviate the learning curve or to provide a helping hand for even the most skilled.

Induction cooking uses electromagnetic induction to heat food. The induction burner contains a copper coil that produces a magnetic field. When this magnetic field is placed near a piece of ferromagnetic material, it causes the material to heat up due to molecular vibration. This process is called induction heating.

Chef will have built in sensors and programming to help notify the user when the water is boiling, how long it’s been since food was added, temperature of the pot or pan, and so much more. In addition to the on-board smarts, Chef will also be paired with the Newr app which will allow customization and management of one or more Chef’s in action.

Imagine coming home after a long day and having the confidence and peace of mind to prepare a family favorite recipe or perhaps a new delicacy, with Chef, that’s now possible.

Chef is the perfect appliance for anyone new or seasoned to cooking.
